SANGGAR ARJUNA, SANGGAR CANDRADIMUKA

SANGGAR ARJUNA, SANGGAR CANDRADIMUKA*
By. Thomas Sembiring,

“Life is not reflected like a puddle. There is no flow and no life there “
A note about the Service Learning Program in Dadabong, Bantul, Yogyakarta 2012

STARTS FROM UNPREPAREDNESS
Tried to look back at the experience of Field Work Profession FE Sanata Dharma University in 2012, it was like to see the time running full speed. Just observation, adaptation, and the immediate actualization also eventually have to end with a reflection. All was brief. Left a deep impression, but not finish because it would never ever be solved. Never seemed enough time except when I finally realized that the short time it has given a lot of meaning for the future steps.
I personally do not really ready as a whole through the SLP to the state should abandon my responsibilities as the Presidium of the Central PMKRI (National Catholic Students Movement) that must be present at the National Working Meeting in Malang. Full of struggle and quite exhausting to think about how to make a decision. Consciously I understand that in fact I was in Dadabong, lived at the residence and the family business Pak Haryanto to live my responsibilities as a student. Being a coordinator for the group that
I have and especially a friend and a good host to his fellow students from Taiwan.
Meet more people in new situations, I asked, what I really looking for from this program? Undergo observation and found that the local artisans and entrepreneurs I meet already have an established concept in itself. Although open to the program, I was arrested at the outset that any good program designed for 2 weeks is not enough to change the paradigm of the entrepreneur who established many decades of experience. I personally anxious to try more humble yet to see that I did not come merely to change others, but also changed my perspective.

ADAPTATION
Beginning of the week is alarming because this is the beginning of adaptation. In addition there should also try to accompany the Taiwan students to better understand the local context of local circumstances and customs. It was a lot of thoughts in my head hung.
Through daily briefings and sometimes in the chat privately with other colleagues, we tried shaking a few programs that are relevant to business needs. Not all be the answer to our findings. For as I am beginning to realize that the fundamental issue of all is a different mindset with our employers and in a short time will be difficult to find the solutions. For them, the less dominant issue is the lack of time. Meanwhile, to better manage through the financial separation of the business, setting up bookkeeping, administration and special recording officer, and other proposed programs seem not to be applied according to the paradigm of our thinking.

IN SANGGAR
The same reason would be more appropriate for Service Learning Program. Two weeks time will not be able to accomplish much except that my colleagues and would be able to give a new color, inspiration, and stimulus for the better. Better and more creative as an employee, more open and ready to make changes for employers, and family planning is good especially considering the business is family business. Potential change of the internal family of entrepreneurs seem still very open. Children who grow up would be a cornerstone of this effort in the future.

COLLEAGUES FROM TAIWAN
Friend and colleague of mine from Taiwan, Jeff and Debbie. They are participants of Fu Jen Catholic University is a part of our group. Initially, the first day of the meet, I even lost for words to be able to talk to them. Nervous because it was so long ago not to use English in conversation. After arriving at the scene, I had an intense involve them in the context of the preparation program. Not much of a problem because our partners from Taiwan may work well enough.
Thing that I noticed as a coordinator of the group is to understand the character of colleagues from Taiwan. Studying their habits and also how to become a translator for them. The interesting part for me is when business owners with their dialogue. As a translator, I asked about religious counterparts from Taiwan. I did not directly ask peers and prefer to explain to homeowners that are very personal questions. I tried to explain the different perspectives among the people of Indonesia that almost all religious to the people of Taiwan.
The other part is making sure that colleagues from Taiwan are comfortable with the environment and food provided. Thankfully that is not too much of a problem in this regard. Jeff seems to really enjoy the food there though had experienced abdominal pain. Debbie seems to really enjoy the food, not because of taste but because of its shape. Often he was taking pictures of food he found.
Although at first it is difficult to try to understand our partners from Taiwan, in the end we are also able to make friends, although many said that sometimes we can not translate. Body language and the description word to be one solution that can be done. During the program, I realize that friendship with them become more attractive because of concerns among their fellow participants from Taiwan. Several times I tried to accompany Jeff to finish co-Taiwan communication problems that exist in other groups. We try to be a friend to all, not only for our own group.
For the participation of colleagues in the program is very good. They provide the best service they can offer. Although there are some parts that they can not do because the language barrier with the environment, they remain a major part of the group. Even families in which we lived was already considered the two friends I was as part of their family.

IN THE END
Service Learning Program has now ended although there is still a promise to continue the relationship through non-program. Thus even as the beginning of this paper, I would need to write some basic things that I learned through reflection. First, that the professions working through college I found new colleagues in the management of deep learning. Time management, conflict management and in particular activities. As a team consisting of different backgrounds and characteristics, the conflict into a practice for me personally to be more aware and patient. Second, the friendship between countries with colleagues from Fu Jen University in Taiwan encouraged me to be more aware of important role of international lingua franca. Gratitude in limited circumstances, there are many obstacles that I faced. Third, humility and communication skills increasingly forged within this program that enabled me to see clearly the many issues surrounding the program either from the perspective workshop organizers and participants, employers and their group, participant from abroad, as well as surrounding communities. It's an interesting mosaic of understanding.
The fourth section, I learned my leadership training is to put yourself in a more cautious and prudent in many situations. When should lead the group, now have to deal with other groups, while assisting and teaching the children, as chatting and working with employees, and other moments that require sensitivity and adaptability. Fifth, is the most important and fundamental that I am grateful for this great experience that makes me inspired to become an entrepreneur. These days I am looking redesign ideas and my imagination to build a small business that I have created pages on Facebook, Batak Batik. I desire to make the business as a means of promoting cultural and social interaction event is not only a contest of capital interests alone.

MATUR NUWUN
In the end, thanks to all those who strive to hold the event this Service Learning Program. Each of the existing shortage is a challenge to clean up and get better. Sanggar Arjuna through this program has become an established Sanggar Candradimuka perspective and a new mindset for me as a student at the Faculty of Economics, Management Studies Program in particular, Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta. Hopefully this all be a good means for the purpose of a great and noble.

P.S:
·        Sanggar is a venue for arts activities. Sanggar Arjuna itself can be interpreted as the production of handicrafts and arts of Java. While Arjuna's name is taken from the Javanese wayang figures and mythology.
·         Candradimuka, in Javanese wayang mythology is an establishment where the knight wayang character, Gatot Kaca, being a powerful person. In contemporary understanding, Candradimuka interpreted as a space or conditions that shape our personality for the better.
